Not a day goes by that I’m not grateful for my employment in the game industry. My story isn’t particularly unique, but I do feel fortunate that I’m able to make a living doing something I love. Every so often, I’ll get the question, “How can I break into the game industry?” This question usually comes from a young and aspiring musician or audio designer, though I’ve also been asked by visual artists, animators and programmers. When we think of game development, perhaps we typically think of large-scale console or PC games. However, it is good to remember that there is an absolutely stunning amount of development going on for web, casual, downloadable, iPhone, Windows Phone, Android, and... Relative News

So you’ve just got a shiny new iPad and you want to make some music. To be honest you now have quite a few choices when it comes to music creation apps and the list continues to grow. To keep things simple let’s take a look at the most obvious choice… Apple’s very own GarageBand. In this tutorial I’ll give you a step by step account of how I built my first loop in GarageBand and hopefully this will give you a nice overview of what the app is capable of. The audio and the actual Garageband project file is available to download, so you can take a closer look in your own time. Step 1: A ‘Smart’ Beat GarageBand on the iPad is capable of producing eight simultaneous tracks of audio (or instruments). These eight tracks can be made up of various sound sources, you can record your own audio via the microphone or audio input, you can use built in Apple loops or your own samples and you can also use any of GarageBand’s excellent built in instruments. I’ve tried to mix things up... Relative News

To learn more about what you get as part of Audio Premium, read this. To take a peek inside this tutorial, hit the jump! If you’re new to the Games Industry, you may ask yourself, “Why should I focus on ‘selling myself’ when I have only limited relevant experience and little-to-no hands-on experience? Shouldn’t I spend time learning the trade before I try to break in?” The answer to the second question is, “YES,” but it doesn’t negate the answer to the first question, which is, “Your image is one of your most valuable assets.
