Designed in Oxford by Chris Huggett, the Wasp is an early digitally-controlled analogue synth in a unique injection-moulded plastic caseThe Wasp looks like a toy, and sounds pretty tinny through the built-in speaker, but plugged into a Relative News

Audio Courses on 9/14/09
This is an interview between Sarah Jones and myself, some of which will be used in an upcoming article about Audio Distance Learning in Mix Magazine. You are getting this before going to press. Ok, first of all, tell me about your background (I've been scouring your LinkedIn page-I'm very interested in the evolution of audiocourses.com and Audana, as well as your educational work!), and how you got involved with SAE.My career has been amazing to date I have an entrepreneurial heart and I'm always looking for the next development, looking forward is one of my strengths, I wouldn't say I was a visionary but I am very much an early adopter. In the early 90s, having served in the Royal Navy as a radio/communications aircraft technician (which incidentally gave me the physics background), I began working as a studio engineer and live PA engineer, festivals and what not, and around that time a musician teacher friend of mine asked me if I wanted to teach some sound engineering... I’ve not always been a fan of ‘magic’ audio enhancement solutions. In the wrong hands they can actually do more harm than good. However this doesn’t stop my students asking about them and wanting to know which plug-ins I would recommend! So with this in mind here are five enhancers I would suggest using in your mixes. I’ve tried to split them into categories and although some of these are not strictly enhancers they should give you some great results. Step 1 – M/S processors OK, so M/S processing is not truly enhancement. In fact it’s a serious recording and mastering tool, but it can certainly be used to boost the presence and width of our audio. If you are completely in the dark to what M/S processing is check out this tutorial: How to Use M/S Processing in Mastering. One of Brainworx excellent M/S plug-ins. By taking a plug-in capable of encoding and decoding Mid/Side signals we can essentially alter the mono information independently of the stereo. This allows... Relative News
