La Linux Audio User Chillout Band —se admite que el nombre es mejorable, y se anuncia que se está votando uno nuevo— acaba de completar su álbum, listo para ser enviado al concurso RPM 2008 para discos grabados en menos de 29 días.
Dado que la grabación de discos utilizando Linux no es todavía una costumbre habitual, es de esperar que este proyecto se haya ejecutado de una forma peculiar. Nada desde luego a lo que Berry Gordin habría llamado «grabar un disco».
— La convocatoria para conseguir músicos para la banda tuvo lugar en una discusión en esta lista de correo.
— Para comunicarse, abren un wiki dedicado a la banda.
— Utilizan software de Linux para escribir música a ser liberada bajo una licencia de Creative Commons by-sa —nada de no-commercial, hurra por ellos—. Cada pista grabada está disponible para su descarga.
— No sólo la mezcla final está disponible, también cada pista independiente, desde un repositorio abierto accesible desde el wiki. Por supuesto durante la colaboración surgieron problemas relacionados con mantener el repositorio y llevar al día las distintas fuentes de audio y versiones de la mezcla. Todas las discusiones han quedado también almacenadas.
